State of Maine Data Breach

You’d think that everyone would have solved their MOVEit problems by now. No way!

The State of Maine failed to either remove MOVEit from their systems or at least apply the latest security patch. Hackers compromised 1.3 million people. Stolen data includes the usual:

  • Social Security numbers.
  • Dates of birth.
  • Driver’s license or state identification numbers.
  • Taxpayer identification numbers,
  • Medical information.
  • Health insurance information.

Over a million people affected by Maine’s actions will receive two years of identity monitoring. Of course, individuals must register themselves for the service.

This data breach affected practically everyone in the State of Maine.

Many government entities and businesses have not updated their MOVEit servers, despite the patches being available. Knowing the tragic vulnerability of MOVEit, one might expect that users would have by now found alternative software apps to use in its place.
